Leicestershire’s most recent Leicester City newsNewcastle are reportedly interested in signing James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.
Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth has been sighted watching Leicester City in the midst of transfer speculation involving Foxes duo James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.
On Monday, Ashworth attended City’s 3-0 loss to Liverpool at the King Power Stadium. Both of Newcastle’s rumoured transfer targets were named to the starting lineup against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Maddison played the entire 90 minutes, while Barnes lasted just over an hour before being replaced as City suffered a humiliating defeat in their Premier League survival effort.
Both players have been crucial characters for Leicester City in recent seasons, including this one. Maddison has 10 goals in 28 games this season, while Barnes has 12 goals in 32.
According to ChronicleLive, the Magpies’ transfer chief will have been watching how the duo performed against Liverpool with bated breath. Barnes, according to reports, works for the same agency as Newcastle manager Eddie Howe and is well-known to the head coach and his team.
Newcastle will be Leicester’s next opponents, as Dean Smith’s team travels to St James’ Park on Monday evening. If City lose and Everton beat Wolves, they will be relegated.
