Newcastle beat Arsenal and Liverpool to sign star who almost beat Jude Bellingham record

Newcastle United fought out a number of Premier League clubs to sign Birmingham City youngster Trevan Sanusi.

The 16-year-old winger trained with the Blues’ first team last season and was named to the travelling squad for an away Championship game against Blackpool.

Sanusi would have broken Jude Bellingham’s record as Birmingham’s youngest player if he had made his debut.

Sanusi, an England under-16s international, was a regular at under-21s level last season, attracting the attention of scouts from numerous English Premier League clubs.
