Dan Burn says he is waiting to be woken from a dream after the former Newcastle season-ticket holder scored on his Champions League debut during the 4-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
The defender, who worked in Asda as a teenager, headed his hometown team’s second goal on a night that will go down in Geordie folklore.
Burn said: ‘I’ve had a very up and down career. I was released by Fulham at 25, so to be playing Champions League now, it’s like a dream, like I’m waiting for someone to wake me up. Ever since I have come here, the upward trajectory, it is almost like waiting for the bubble to burst.’
Eddie Howe’s side were magnificent from the off and rattled the French champions with their aggressive pressing.
‘We had to unsettle them and our crowd helped us do that,’ said the head coach. ‘It was an amazing evening, so many stories in the game itself, but first and foremost, I’m delighted for the supporters
