Allan Saint-Maximin, a winger for Newcastle United, has been linked with a move away from the club this month.
Since joining the club, the 25-year-old has been a crucial player for the Magpies, but his injury issues and inconsistency have been a source of concern.
According to the Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, the Magpies will only consider selling the Frenchman if an offer of approximately £70 million is made.
The winger, though, remains an important part of Eddie Howe‘s first-team ambitions, and the Magpies have no plans to offload him anytime soon.
It appears improbable that any team would pay £70 million for a player who has yet to prove himself at the highest level. There is no doubt that Saint-Maximin is a match-winner on his day, but he needs to work on his consistency before he is worth that much money.
#nufc have no plans to sell Allan Saint-Maximin. Remains “integral part” of Eddie Howe’s plans. This platform is crazy enough without people twirling a throw away line from @SkySports_Keith into a headline. If someone offered £70m sure they’d consider it. Same with all players

Meanwhile, Newcastle is vying for a place in the Champions League next season and has had a strong league season so far.
Eddie Howe would not want to weaken his squad by selling a key first-team player in the middle of the season.
If the Magpies allow him to leave this month, they will struggle to replace him sufficiently. Any move for Saint-Maximin would have to wait until the summer transfer window, and even then, his admirers would have to pay exorbitant fees to entice him away from St James’ Park.
