Newcastle finally identify €35m Spanish speed winger as perfect Saint-Maximin replacement

As Newcastle prepares for a domestic and European campaign in 2023/24, an intriguing Spanish international is being considered as Allan Saint-Maximin’s replacement.

The St. James’ Park fan favorite has fallen out of favor, and injuries have also limited his season, so a transfer away for the Frenchman appears to be the best option for all sides.

Saint-Maximin has always been a confident player, and while that has been shown in fits and starts in 2022/23, Eddie Howe needs someone with more consistency.

To that reason, it appears a strange move to be contemplating Barcelona’s Ferran Torres, a wide winger who has struggled this season at the club.

According to Football Transfers, the Magpies are in internal negotiations to bring the Spaniard back to the Premier League, and they may do it for as little as €35 million.

According to WhoScored, Torres has seven goals and three assists in 43 games for the Blaugranes, which isn’t spectacular but also isn’t terrible, but where Torres has failed is often with a last ball.

He has the ability to simply move past players, yet he has frequently been found wanting while either going for a goal or trying to set up a teammate.

Perhaps a fresh start in the Premier League will rekindle the qualities that he clearly possesses, and if he can replicate something close to his finest form for Eddie Howe’s side, he’ll prove to be a steal.
