Newcastle finally offered a chance to sign £13m-a-year Tottenham target

Newcastle United could be handed the chance to sign Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix this summer, as his future is unknown.

Felix spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea, and despite the Blues’ struggles, he appeared to show enough promise to suggest he’d be a success in England.

However, with Chelsea no longer interested in Felix, it appears that other clubs are now interested in the Portuguese sensation. Alternatively, Atletico Madrid may be looking to sell him.

Felix is expected to be offered to Newcastle, according to The Express, who site reports from Spain. Atletico Madrid might charge a fee of £13 million for a one-year loan. The alternative, more improbable scenario would need Newcastle to spend more than £80 million on the attacker.

Felix has sparked a lot of interest in England.According to recent reports, Tottenham are interested, and Unai Emery has considered bringing him to Aston Villa.

Atletico Madrid signed Felix, a ‘world class’ player, for more than £100 million. Since then, he’s had some good moments but hasn’t exactly delivered what the La Liga club was hoping for.

Newcastle will not be able to afford another player for more than £80 million. They are heavily investing in Sandro Tonali and spent more than £60 million on Alex Isak last year.

A loan deal, on the other hand, could be an option for the Toon or Spurs.

Felix shown with Chelsea that when he’s on form, he can do the business, and with Newcastle back in the Champions League, he may be a useful player.

The Portuguese is a bundle of skill who, in the end, is too excellent to pass up a huge move. It remains to be seen if that relocation will be to England.
