Newcastle are interested in signing best strikers for £43M to battle with Paris Saint-Germain

Newcastle United are interested in acquiring Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki, although they may face competition from Paris Saint-Germain.

Lyon anticipate a bidding war between Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain for playmaker Rayan Cherki.

That is according to But! Football Club in France, who claims that Lyon may lose several players this summer.

Lyon could make ‘one very major sale’ this summer, with Cherki perhaps on his way out.

This summer, Cherki’s skull was reportedly valued at roughly €50 million (£43 million).

The aim is that PSG and Newcastle will engage in a bidding war, raising the price slightly.

The only true reason for this is that Newcastle has wealthy owners who may be willing to splash the cash if they win the Champions League.

That’s a good idea, but we believe Newcastle has other goals in mind than Cherki, who played alongside Bruno Guimaraes at Lyon.

Newcastle’s biggest targets for a playmaker this summer likely to be James Maddison and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Cherki could be on the list, but Newcastle entering a bidding war for him would be a great surprise.

Rayan Cherki is a Newcastle United target.

Cherki was born in Lyon and has been climbing the ranks of his hometown club since he was six years old.

Cherki, who was long predicted for success, is now a first-team regular with almost 100 outings to his name.

In that time, Cherki has 14 goals and 16 assists, including five goals and six assists last season.

Cherki, primarily a number 10, has also played on the wings for Lyon, demonstrating his versatility to play on either wing.

Lyon manager Laurent Blanc has praised 19-year-old Cherki as a ‘great’ talent.

Cherki is expected to have a bright career because to his numerous French international caps, although he can also play for Italy or Morocco if he so choose.

Newcastle will be looking for elite talent all over the world, and Cherki may be one of them.
