Newcastle officials ‘meet with agent and family’ of 18-year super kid to secure summer bargain

Newcastle officials meet with the family of a Toon target in an attempt to achieve a summer deal.

Newcastle United are reportedly stepping up their efforts to recruit Fenerbahce wonderkid Arda Guler to St James’ Park this summer.

According to Football Insider, club executives flew to Dubai over the weekend to meet the 18-year-old’s family, pitching a move to Tyneside and presenting proposals in an attempt to beat Ajax and Barcelona to a contract.

Turkish site Ajansspor has also reported that Toon reps were in Dubai to ‘conduct talks’ for a summer move for the adolescent sensation.

Guler could be available for a low fee in summer, as his contract has a €5 million release clause if he fails to play more than 1500 minutes this season. He has currently played 1126 minutes of football in 30 games this season, tallying six goals and four assists.

We’ve been connected with a bid for the highly-rated Turk before, with two reports claiming that Newcastle sent scouts to witness the kid in Super Lig play last month.

Guler crosses so many boxes and appears to be a great one to watch in the coming weeks, with Dan Ashworth heading our search for outstanding developing talent.
