According to Football Insider, Newcastle are planning a summer move for Wolverhampton’s Max Kilman, but he will face stiff competition given his impressive performances.
According to the same source, Jamaal Lascelles is expected to leave this summer due to interest from Nottingham Forest, so Kilman appears to be on our radar as a potential replacement.
With European football on the horizon, we will undoubtedly need to strengthen our squad depth, and the 25-year-old defender has demonstrated real quality while playing in a poor Wolves side.
The 6ft 4′ defender has been impressive so far this season, appearing in all 24 of their Premier League games and attracting the attention of some top clubs with his commanding presence and ball-control ability.
Despite having a fantastic defensive partnership with Sven Botman and Fabian Schar, there is a lack of quality beyond the duo, and Kilman could be crucial for rotation, especially in a European campaign.
However, bringing the centre-back to Tyneside to cover for our current pair will be difficult. A number of clubs are thought to be interested in his services, and he recently signed a new contract at Molineux that will keep him there until 2025.
