Newcastle released strong XI vs Dortmund as Confirmed team news, lineup, injury latest for Champions League today

Newcastle United are dealing with a number of injury worries heading into tonight’s huge Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund.

Questions remain as to whether or not Sandro Tonali will feature against the German giants.

The midfielder is this week facing an investigation by Italian authorities  in a betting scandal that could see him banned for as many as 12 months – with a verdict before Wednesday’s game possible.

Eddie Howe has confirmed the Italian is available but it remains to be seen if he features.

Newcastle deployed Sean Longstaff in midfield with Tonali on the bench as they smashed Crystal Palace on the weekend, with his replacement amongst the goals.

Josh Murphy and Callum Wilson also scored in that 4-0 win yet Miguel Almiron and Alexander Isak could still push them out of the line-up.

Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes and Sven Botman are certain to miss out through injury as the Magpies look to continue their good form in Europe’s elite competition.

Predicted Newcastle XI: Pope; Trippier, Lascelles, Schar, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Isak, Gordon

Injuries: Botman, Willock, Barnes

Date and time: 8pm BST, Wednesday October 25, 2023

Venue: St James’ Park
