Newcastle set eagle eyes on Anthony Gordon again as Eddie Howe keen to land Everton winger

Newcastle United is apparently considering another deal for Everton winger Anthony Gordon.

Newcastle was reportedly interested in signing Gordon in the summer and had a bid rejected for him.

A move never materialized, therefore there is a chance that interest will be reignited before the end of the month.

According to The Daily Mail, the St. James’ Park club is “ready to renew” its interest in Gordon this month, and is “contemplating a fresh approach” for him before the window closes.

The Merseyside club has to sell in order to pursue a forward in the market, and Spurs and Chelsea have both expressed interest in Gordon.

Gordon was harassed in his own car by Toffees fans after the club’s recent 2-1 loss at home to Southampton in the Premier League, and he may agree to a move away in January.

Given Everton’s need to offload players and Gordon’s incident with his fans, the North East club may see his signing this month as a good opportunity.

The Englishman is exceptionally quick, as he has the best top speed of any Premier League player this season, and Magpies veteran Alan Shearer has praised his ‘fearless mentality’ when driving with the ball.

Gordon’s end product has to improve, as he has only three goals and no assists in 16 Premier League games this season, but if Eddie Howe can coach him up in front of the goal in the same manner he has done for Miguel Almiron, he could prove to be an astute signing in the future.
