Bruno Guimaraes release clause revealed as Brazilian agree new Newcastle United contract

Newcastle United have reportedly agreed a new contract with Bruno Guimaraes.

Bruno Guimaraes has reportedly agreed a new contract at Newcastle United after months of negotiations.

Both parties have been locked in contract talks for some time and according to Fabrizio Romano, there’s been a breakthrough. As per the Italian journalist, Guimaraes will extend his stay at St James’ Park until 2028 with a £100million release clause inserted.

He posted on X: “EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle agree new deal with Bruno Guimarães, here we go! It’s done — contract until June 2028.

“Key detail: understand the new deal will include release clause and it will be in the region of £100m. Bruno, so happy to extend as he loves the club.”

The Brazilian has been subject to transfer interest since he signed from Lyon in January 2022. Guimaraes admitted he had ‘a conversation’ with Real Madrid last summer while Premier League clubs Liverpool and Chelsea are reported admirers.

Guimaraes has scored 10 goals in 63 appearances for Newcastle since his arrival and has played a major role as the club progressed from relegation contenders to Champions League qualifiers in little under 18 months.

The 25-year-old’s current deal is due to expire in 2026.
