Newcastle United appears to make Leicester unshakeable midfielder their second senior signing of the summer

Newcastle United appear to be on the verge of bringing in Harvey Barnes as their second senior signing of the summer, much to the chagrin of one of the Magpies’ Premier League rivals.

Newcastle appear to be following up on Sandro Tonali’s arrival with a move for Barnes, who is eager to join Eddie Howe’s side ahead of the new season.

The Magpies are optimistic about a deal and plan to integrate the 25-year-old into the squad during their forthcoming trip to America.

Howe has been looking to add a fresh winger to his team, and Barnes appears to be the man to do so. He is an enticing signing, having previously impressed in the Premier League. He scored 13 goals while playing for a weak Leicester club last season. Only Callum Wilson surpassed that total in Newcastle.

Barnes is a proven Premier League talent who was being pursued by a number of other top-flight clubs. West Ham had previously been considered the favourites to sign the England international.

West Ham are dissatisfied as they prepare to lose Harvey Barnes.

West Ham are furious at Arsenal for delaying the Declan Rice trade, according to the Sun. The 24-year-old is likely to join Arsenal for £105 million, although the deal has yet to be finalized.

The Hammers are obviously reliant on that cash injection to enhance their team, and according to the report, they are now unhappy with Arsenal since it is forcing them to miss out on key targets.

One of them is Barnes, who looked set to join West Ham at the start of June, when the Rice deal appeared to be nearing completion.

But time has passed, and Rice is still not officially a Gunner. This is certainly upsetting for West Ham, and it has allowed Newcastle to come in and take advantage.

So, when Barnes starts to fly in a Newcastle shirt, we should praise Arsenal for their ponderous approach to Declan Rice.
