Newcastle United battle Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus to sign £62m French speed king

A bid of £62 million is thought to be enough to persuade Leverkusen to sell their star player this summer, so Arsenal will have to put their money where their mouth is to get a deal done.

However, Newcastle and PSG don’t appear to be short on cash, so it appears likely that they will be willing to meet Diaby’s somewhat hefty asking price.

Despite the excellent form of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, Diaby has the quality to go straight into Arteta’s starting XI, so it will be interesting to see if he ends up at the Emirates.

Newcastle, as previously reported by TEAMtalk, is also keen on signing the 23-year-old, so a bidding war between the Premier League rivals is possible.

Along with the Magpies, Diaby’s former club Paris Saint-Germain is said to be interested in signing him this summer.

Despite the competition, according to SPORTBible, Arsenal is thought to be leading the race for the exciting winger.

Indeed, with the London club currently eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table, the Emirates would be the most appealing option for Diaby if all three clubs came in for him this summer.

Diaby has quickly established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young wingers since joining Leverkusen from PSG in 2018.

Overall, in 158 appearances for the German club across all competitions, the Frenchman has scored 47 goals and provided 44 assists, for an impressive average of 0.58 goal contributions per game.

Diaby’s excellent form has continued this season, with 12 goals and seven assists in 34 appearances.

As a result, it’s not surprising to see widespread interest in Diaby, who is said to want to play for a team that will compete in Europe next season.

He also hopes to establish himself as a regular member of Didier Deschamps’ France squad after failing to make the manager’s World Cup squad last year.
