Newcastle will compete for James Ward-Prowse.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle United is one of several Premier League clubs preparing to compete for Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur are also reportisy keeping a close eye on his situation, while Aston Villa has long been a fan of the 28-year-old.
Ward-Prowse could be sold in a fire sale if Southampton is relegated at the end of the season, with Che Adams, Mohammed Salisu, and Romeo Lavia attracting interest from Premier League clubs.
Southampton has won two of their last three league games, but they remain at the bottom of the Premier League table. Ward-Prowse is a Southampton academy product who became the club’s all-time Premier League appearance maker with his 330th league appearance in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Leicester City.
Newcastle United have made contact with the representatives of Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo to discuss the possibility of signing him.
According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Grimaldo has been approached by Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen, and Fulham.
Atletico Madrid may also be interested in Grimaldo, with Diego Simeone‘s men unlikely to keep Tottenham Hotspur loanee Sergio Reguilon.
Grimaldo will be available on a free transfer during the summer after being out of contact. However, Tierney is reportedly Newcastle’s top target, with Grimaldo a possible replacement for the Arsenal left-back.
