After missing out on Napoli star Kim Min-jae, Newcastle United are interested in Crystal Palace centre-back Joachim Andersen.
According to Football Transfers, the Dane is being considered as a possible challenger for Fabian Schar’s spot in Eddie Howe’s squad.
Joachim Andersen has been a consistent performer in the Premier League in recent years. During his year on loan with Fulham, he was a standout.
Indeed, it was somewhat surprise that Palace won the race to buy him for £17 million following Fulham’s relegation. But he has flourished at Selhurst Park, partnering Marc Guehi at the heart of the Eagles’ defense.
Newcastle have Andersen on their radar as they try to strengthen their alternatives at centre-back, according to Football Transfers. Of course, the Magpies will be back in the Champions League the following season.

Last season, Roy Hodgson described Andersen as “excellent.” And it is commonly known that he is an excellent ball passer. So he fits the description for how Howe wants Newcastle to play.
If Palace is willing to make a deal, that could be a very wise decision. But it’s difficult to see the Eagles embracing that attitude.
