Newcastle United drop new contract offer as PSG pushing very hard to sign defender

PSG is interested in Sven Botman, according to I News, and Luis Campos believes the Newcastle United star is destined to become one of Europe’s best defenders.

Botman has had a fantastic first year on Tyneside. He has played a significant role in Eddie Howe’s side challenging for fourth place in the Premier League and reaching the Carabao Cup final.

Botman, of course, is one of the players Newcastle expects to see develop in the coming years. However, he had already established himself as a top talent prior to his move to the Premier League.

PSG is interested in acquiring Botman.

In fact, I News reports that PSG had been keeping tabs on the Dutchman before he moved to St James’ Park. He had previously assisted Lille in winning the Ligue 1 title a year before leaving for Newcastle.

And it appears that those behind the scenes at Parc des Princes continue to admire the 23-year-old.

According to I News, PSG is still interested in Botman, with Campos convinced that the youngster can become one of the best on the continent in his position.

Newcastle are unconcerned about Botman’s departure. And the report implies that they are willing to offer him a new contract if his performance continues.

It would be surprising if Botman wanted to leave Newcastle so soon after joining. He, like all of their new signings, would have been aware that the Magpies were unlikely to challenge for the Premier League title right away.

Obviously, PSG can provide Champions League football right away. But Botman appears to have turned down their interest in the past.

He possesses ‘incredible’ talent. And Newcastle will have to get used to European heavyweights scrutinizing a number of their best players.
