According to 90min, Newcastle United is interested in Renan Lodi as the Magpies prepare to sign a new left-back during the summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe’s men appear to prioritize acquiring another left-back at the end of the season. In recent weeks, they have been heavily linked with Kieran Tierney. And 90min also claims to be a fan of the Arsenal star.
He is not, however, the only Premier League player on their radar.
According to the report, they are also interested in Lodi, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Atletico Madrid.
Lodi has had a difficult time since moving to City Ground. However, he has had a consistent run in the side in recent months. As a result, the 24-year-old has demonstrated much more of his talent for Steve Cooper‘s side.
If Forest manages to stay in the Premier League, you’d think they’d want to keep him in some capacity next season. However, it appears that they are up against competition.
Forest have demonstrated genuine ambition since securing promotion. However, few can compete with Newcastle in terms of potential spending. As a result, Forest supporters may be concerned about the club’s ties to St James’ Park.
However, The Athletic reported in the summer that Cooper’s men have an option to purchase Lodi for just under £27 million.
He’s got some’magic’ going on. And he should only improve as he spends more time in the Premier League.
So it’s no surprise that he’s on Newcastle’s radar heading into another crucial summer on Tyneside.
Certainly, there will be a lot of eyes on Forest in the remaining weeks of the season at Newcastle.
