Newcastle United list out two primary summer target as Howe make first step to sign Sandro Tonali

Sky Sports reported on Wednesday morning that Newcastle United’s key objectives in this transfer window are James Maddison and Sandro Tonali.

Newcastle made a bid to buy the AC Milan and Italy international midfielder on Tuesday night, according to reports in both Italy and England.

Newcastle United are’very keen’ on Sandro Tonali, according to Sky Sports’ Pete Graves, and are desperate to add him to their midfield.

The 23-year-old is a very versatile midfielder who can play a variety of roles, including the ‘6’ and ‘8’ positions. He might be a perfect partner for Bruno Guimaraes, with a fluid system that allows them to both get forward in turn.

A 50 million euro (about £42.8 million) transfer fee was widely reported by The Athletic and others to have been paid, an opening bid for AC Milan to evaluate.

Newcastle United are still working on a deal for Sandro Tonali, according to Sky Sports, as they try to get players in before pre-season begins in early July. The first pre-season friendly is now only 24 days away, when Newcastle travels to Gateshead before heading to Ibrox three days later with 8,000 traveling NUFC fans.

According to Sky Sports, Eddie Howe and Newcastle United are also interested in James Maddison. Many of the more credible NUFC writers have lately reported that the overarching Newcastle United summer transfer strategy is for the great majority of the available funds to be spent on two top-tier midfielders, followed by other more cost-effective acquisitions to enhance the squad. James Maddison and Sandro Tonali are excellent choices.

Newcastle United, according to Sky Sports, have a variety of back-up targets, but they are particularly focused on bringing in Sandro Tonali and James Maddison as their top two targets.
