Newcastle United midfielders join hands to convince £55m electrifying midfielder to join Magpies

Two Newcastle United players have apparently been working hard to persuade Leicester City’s James Maddison that a transfer to the northeast this summer is the best option for him.

Maddison, 26, is expected to leave the King Power Stadium this summer following the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship on the final day of the 2022-23 season, and has been tracked by both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

With the latter qualifying for next season’s Champions League and Spurs missing out after placing eighth, the Magpies not only have a clear competitive advantage, but with Wilson and Trippier both promoting for club, Eddie Howe’s men are now viewed as the saga’s clear frontrunners.

Maddison, who has just one year left on his contract with Leicester, has scored 55 goals and contributed 41 assists in 203 matches across all competitions in his five years with the club.
