Newcastle United transfer whispers swirl with Maddison’s proposal, and Manquillo has had offers.
According to The Telegraph, the Magpies will make an early approach for Maddison this summer but will need guarantees from the player that he truly wants to move to Tyneside.
If United does not obtain those assurances, they will move on ‘if they believe they are being used’ in a bidding battle. Newcastle are also said to be uninterested in Maddison’s Leicester City teammate Youri Tielemans, who will be available on a free move this summer.
According to the Telegraph, United are interested in signing Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus and Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney this summer.
Newcastle’s interest in Kudus, though, has not yet led to a bid, while claims that a deal has been struck for Tierney are said to be inaccurate.
Newcastle is one of five clubs rumored to be interested in Giorgio Scalvini, a teenage Italian defender. According to FCInterNews, United is competing for the Atalanta star with Inter Milan, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Chelsea.
Scalvini has been a revelation for the Italian club seeking the Champions League this season, appearing in 32 games across all competitions. Atalanta, understandably, does not want to lose him and has set a €40 million asking price for him.
Newcastle defender Javi Manquillo, who has played just 34 minutes of Premier League football this season, is one player set to leave the club this summer.
According to AS, clubs from England, Spain, Germany, and France have already expressed interest in signing the 29-year-old right-back, and with only one year left on his contract, he shouldn’t command a high sum to depart St James’ Park.
