Newcastle United push out fire to sign £50m 18-goal Premier League goal machine

According to a recent Football Insider story, the Magpies’ summer transfer plans are unlikely to include Brentford striker Ivan Toney, despite the club’s long pursuit of him.

Eddie Howe now has some decent options up front, including experienced attacker Callum Wilson, after signing forward Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for a club record amount of £63m last summer (Sky Sports).

Even though the English strategist is said to be a huge fan of Brentford’s Toney, a deal at the end of the season is unlikely, even though the Bees may be willing to part ways with their prolific marksman if their £50 million valuation is fulfilled.

Toney, 27, has had an outstanding season at the Community Stadium. With 18 domestic goals this season, the former Peterborough striker is the Premier League’s third leading goalscorer after Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.

Other creative candidates on the Geordies’ wishlist are Leicester City’s James Maddison and Harvey Barnes (Telegraph).
