Newcastle will chase Youri Tielemans and James Maddison in the summer, according to journalist Rudy Galetti of GIVEMESPORT.
Newcastle United have both Youri Tielemans and James Maddison on their summer shortlist, according to writer Rudy Galetti.
With the Foxes on the verge of relegation, Leicester City will be obliged to sell their two midfield stars at the end of the season in order to balance the books.
Youri Tielemans, a Belgian international midfielder, will leave Leicester on a free transfer this summer, regardless of which league the club is in. Tielemans will be sought after by Champions League clubs across Europe, with Paris Saint-Germain apparently interested in the player, according to Téléfoot, via GetfootballnewsFrance.
Similarly, Maddison is set to leave the King Power Stadium after five years, even if Leicester manages to stay in the Premier League. The England coach will be attracting a number of top teams, but he appears to have been impressed by the atmosphere at St. James’ Park.
According to The Telegraph, Leicester are aiming to pay around £50 million for the talismanic attacking midfielder.
Galetti said that Tielemans and Maddison are two players Newcastle would be keeping an eye on in the summer, depending on how things go with other targets.
“Tielemans and Maddison are two names on the Newcastle list,” he told GIVEMESPORT. Much will depend on how the conversations with the various players progress.”
The 26-year-old Tielemans would command exorbitant wages while being considered as neither an automatic starter nor a big upgrade on Howe’s existing midfield, especially given the good performances of Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, Joe Willock, and Sean Longstaff this season. While he would be a free agent coup, this would be negated by his pay and the exorbitant signing and agent fees that free agents normally seek. He may be one to avoid and leave to less savvy clubs.
Maddison, on the other hand, is a creative force and one of the league’s top playmakers, capable of pulling the strings as a ten or out wide. As a result, he would give much of what Newcastle now lacks and appears to be the ideal signing on paper to push the club to the next level as they prepare to compete in the Champions League next season.
Simply said, Eddie Howe and Newcastle should prioritize him.
