Newcastle United submit €16 million bid for the third time to sign Matheus Franca

Newcastle United will make another attempt to sign Matheus Franca, according to Sport Witness. The Magpies are said to have made a third offer of €16 million to persuade Flamengo to sell. The Brazilian club has decided to maintain their €20 million asking price for the attacking midfielder.

Newcastle United may have shifted their focus this transfer window to young players rather than bringing in established stars. Eddie Howe appears content with his current team’s talent while looking to add depth before the market closes.

Howe considers a number of positions, including right back, central midfield, and attacking midfield. According to media reports, their primary target for the latter was James Maddison. Newcastle might not want to spend a lot of money on established players this month.

They are still linked to a number of young, rising stars. Flamengo star Joao Gomes, for example, is on their radar, and they are now pursuing his teammate Matheus Franca, an attacking midfielder.

Flamengo is said to have agreed on an €18 million deal for Gomes with an unnamed club, which could be Liverpool or Newcastle. The Brazilian side, on the other hand, is hesitant to lose Franca in the same window unless their demands are fully met.

Franca has emerged as a player of interest for the Magpies, who see his abilities as useful in the current squad. They made a €13 million offer to test Flamengo, followed by a €14 million offer with €2 million in add-ons. The Brazilian side refused to consider those offers, instead demanding €20 million plus 50% of any future sale.

Newcastle is likely to meet or come close to the financial request. The large percentage of future sales appears to be steep and may not sit well with the Magpies. The third offer is for €16 million in cash. It may entice Flamengo to consider a sale.

Flamengo believes the 18-year-old midfielder is far more valuable than Gomes. They believe he has the potential to succeed in Europe and wants to include a future sale clause. Newcastle’s latest bid may be rejected because the Brazilian club will try to stick to their demands.
