The latest Premier League transfer news as Newcastle United is named as ‘one to watch’ in the race for a Leicester City, West Ham United, and Spurs target.
After impressing for the Championship club over the last two seasons, the England Under-19 prospect has been widely tipped to earn a move to the Premier League and full international recognition in the near future. Scott has scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 83 appearances in all competitions since joining the Robins from non-league club Guernsey, and he further enhanced his reputation in a recent FA Cup defeat against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.
Scott’s form in the heart of Nigel Pearson’s side has reportedly piqued the interest of a slew of Premier League clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United, and Leicester City all said to have kept tabs on him over the last year.
Newcastle are also said to be interested in the youngster, who was the subject of several failed bids during the January transfer window. CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has now declared the Magpies to be “one to watch” as the race to sign Scott heats up during the summer transfer window.
“Alex Scott expected to leave Bristol City this summer, as revealed in December,” he said on Twitter. Concrete proposals arrived in January, but Bristol City refused to pay nearly twice what suitors demanded. It will cost around £25 million. Wolves and Tottenham are both seriously interested. NUFC is a team to keep an eye on.
“West Ham and Leicester are also keeping tabs. Bournemouth’s (Scott attended their academy) interest has waned. Leeds were involved, but Jesse Marsch was not. Scott will undoubtedly be pursued by a number of Premier League clubs this summer. Pep Guardiola praised Scott, calling him a “really good player” when #MCFC faced Bristol City in the FA Cup. Scott will relocate in 2023, according to sources. He is regarded as a future England player
