Newcastle United transfer battle settled as star midfielder make new history

A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours from around the globe with Adrien Rabiot linked with St. James’ Park switch

A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Monday, September 25.

Italian press, Calciomercato.it, claim Newcastle United are still keen on signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The French international has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Magpies, following on from the Saudi led takeover at St. James’ Park.

Manchester United are said to be the front runners to sign Rabiot, after a move to Old Trafford appeared close last summer. The report claims Rabiot remains ‘attractive’ to Newcastle’s recruitment team, with the Toon behind the Red Devils in the pecking order.

Rabiot has enjoyed a superb start to the season with Juventus under returning boss Max Allegri, re-establishing himself as a key player in the Old Lady’s midfield. Juve are said to be keen on offering Rabiot a new deal after an impressive string of performances, but Premier League interest won’t go away.

There have been question marks over the attitude of the former Man City and PSG youngster, but he’s been a regular for both club and country throughout his career.

Dortmund ‘might take them for granted’

Former West Ham United striker has backed Newcastle United to hurt teams in the Champions League and believes their German counterparts might take them for granted when the two sides meet next month.

“That is a good result away from home,” McAvennie told Football Insider following the 0-0 draw with AC Milan. They will be very happy with it.

“The fans will be loving it because it is a top team, the players will be loving it.

“I think Dortmund might take them for granted and just think it is a guaranteed three points. Newcastle have got players that can hurt them so I can definitely see them getting a result.“
