Bruno Guimaraes sobbed his way off the pitch at halftime against Fulham on Sunday.
For the second half, Allan Saint-Maximin came on in place of the Brazilian midfielder.
On 18 minutes, while executing the standard Newcastle United high press, Bruno Guimaraes was chasing high up the pitch when he rolled his ankle.
Long therapy and eventually continuation.
However, the midfielder certainly wasn’t at his best for the rest of the half.
Joelinton consoled his teammate (shown above) as they left during the break.
Newcastle United eventually won in spectacular fashion, but fans were understandably concerned about Bruno.
Bruno Guimaraes was then seen leaving St James’ Park on crutches and wearing a protective boot.
I believe that almost everyone who has played football at any level has done something similar to this.
It is extremely painful at the time, regardless of whether it is serious or causes no long-term injury.
It’s now a matter of waiting and seeing which way it goes.
However, I believe the fact that he continued to play for the rest of the first half, despite not looking comfortable much of the time, indicates that it was not a significant injury.
If such is the case, Bruno Guimaraes could still be out for some time. It is therefore dependent on how the athlete himself feels about returning to play.
Six days until the away Premier League fixture at Crystal Palace, nine days till the two legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final versus Southampton.
