Newcastle Utd finally opens the door out for Saint-Maximin as swap deal proposal comes to light

Allan Saint-Maximin, a Newcastle player, could leave the club during the January transfer window.

According to reports, Newcastle is willing to offload Allan Saint-Maximin this month in order to sign Everton’s Anthony Gordon. This season, the Frenchman has fallen out of favor with the Magpies. It remains to be seen whether he will leave before the end of the month.

Saint-Maximin joined Newcastle in the summer transfer window of 2019, and the Frenchman has become a popular player in the three-and-a-half years since.

Despite his obvious talent, he has fallen out of favor under Eddie Howe this season.

Newcastle is now willing to sell Saint-Maximin before the transfer window closes next week, according to the Daily Mail.

A number of Premier League clubs are said to be interested in the forward, who has only scored one Premier League goal this season.

With the Toon confident of signing Gordon, and Everton having a chaotic season, their current winger’s days at the club may be numbered.

Newcastle had also attempted to use Chris Wood in a swap for the Toffees star, according to the report.

Wood, on the other hand, has joined Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season, a year after joining from Burnley.

Forest has been mentioned as a potential suitor for Saint-Maximin as they look to maintain their Premier League status.

However, Howe’s comments following his team’s 1-0 win over Southampton on Tuesday suggest that the player may still have a future on Tyneside.

“I thought all the subs did really well, even Jacob coming on, who didn’t have as much time as the other two,” Howe said.
