Newcastle United will look for ‘elite’ signings in the summer transfer window, and analyst Stan Collymore has listed three prospective targets who would cement the Magpies’ position as top-four contenders.
Newcastle United would become a ‘top four staple’ this summer if they signed Moises Caicedo, James Maddison, and Kieran Tierney. Stan Collymore agrees, as the former Liverpool striker has praised the Magpies’ transfer strategy thus far in avoiding ‘galactico’ newcomers.
Newcastle’s owners have already committed almost £250 million in the playing team, with further ‘elite’ acquisitions expected in the next window.Eddie Howe has orchestrated a quick turnaround at St James’ Park, with United targeting an unexpected top-four finish this season.

Collymore believes Newcastle’s owners have been wise with their money thus far, prioritizing Premier League experience but also hunting for value on the continent. The inclusion of a left-back, a central midfielder, and a playmaker, according to the commentator, would help the team continue to contend for Champions League football rather than making this season a one-off.
“If Newcastle were serious about raising eyebrows and continuing with known British-based or Premier League players rather than the likes of say a Mbappe,” Collymore said in his Caught Offside column. He’s had a string of injuries at Arsenal, but I like him a lot and believe he has the potential to emulate Andy Robertson if he finds the right club.
“I believe Leicester’s James Maddison would be a good fit as well because he believes in himself and has great ability.” He would relish on the love and craziness that Newcastle fans would shower on him.
“The other player I’d pick is Moises Caicedo.” He’s tremendously athletic, and if Newcastle can get those three in, I’d say they’re on their way to becoming a top-four regular. Those two midfielders would bring creativity and the ability to close the door, while Tierney has the potential to be one of the top left-backs in the country.
“To this point, Newcastle’s recruitment has also been excellent. They did not purchase a ‘galactico,’ but rather served as ‘anti-galacticos.’
“Fans can rally behind and identify with that, and all three of the players I just mentioned fit the model of what Newcastle has done in terms of recruitment.” They would considerably benefit the Magpies and help them avoid danger.
