Newcastle Utd opens up £100m transfer demand as Real Madrid beat Chelsea, Man City, and PSG

The rising financial power of the Premier League has largely prevented Real Madrid from poaching the league’s finest stars in recent years. Long gone are the days of Los Blancos snaring the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso, Gareth Bale, and Eden Hazard at will.

However, according to two separate reports, the Spanish conglomerate is once again eyeing EPL talent, this time in the mid-range price range.

To begin, the Telegraph speculates on a possible move to the Bernabeu for Newcastle talisman Bruno Guimaraes.

Since his £40 million arrival from Lyon in the summer of 2022, the Magpies midfielder has been a revelation at St. James’ Park.

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle is close to reaching an agreement with Guimaraes on a new and improved contract. However, this could simply be postponing the inevitable.

It has been suggested that whether the Brazilian stays at Newcastle for the long term will be determined by how quickly they can establish themselves as a regular in the Champions League. If they are unable to cross that bridge, Guimaraes will not be short of suitors who can meet his demands.

Chelsea, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain are all said to be interested. According to the Telegraph, Guimaraes’ “most likely destination” is Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.

‘Real Madrid are another club who have taken a shine to the 25-year-old from Rio de Janeiro and were also tracking him during his time in France,’ according to the report.

‘There are people in the player’s entourage who would love to see him play for the Spanish giants, and in many ways, this is his most likely destination if he does leave Newcastle,’ says one source.

With an extension on Tyneside on the way, Guimaraes is unlikely to leave in the summer. However, his future beyond the upcoming season appears to be in Madrid.

The former Everton favourite joined Spurs for £60 million (including add-ons) in the summer, but has had a disappointing and injury-plagued debut season.
