Newcastle United had a quiet deadline day as Eddie Howe put the finishing touches on the team he hopes will win the club’s first major championship since 1955.
The Toon had a busy transfer window this summer, with manager Howe bringing in Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes.Newcastle also spent money on both full-back positions, bringing in Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall ahead of their return to the Champions League.
Howe guided the St James’ Park side to their first top-four Premier League finish since 2003 last term. He also took Newcastle to the Carabao Cup final in February during the Toon’s first full season with Saudi-backed owners. And the PIF’s support continued during deadline day.

Newcastle have backed Howe to build a team he believes can take another top-four Premier League finish and, potentially, silverware. Tonali and Barnes also settled in seamlessly at the Toon. But early defeats to Manchester City and Liverpool have left the club on the back foot.
So, Newcastle explored the transfer market on deadline day and considered a few outgoings from St James’ Park. And, with that in mind, here are all of the Magpies’ last-minute deals…
