After the New York Jets lost to the Indianapolis Colts, Aaron Rodgers and his teammates were left with a 1% mathematical chance of making it to the playoffs. Not the result they were hoping for entering this season. That meant head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas among others were on the hot seat.

Ever since Aaron Rodgers joined the team, the only goal was to contend for a Super Bowl. To aid it, his favorite offensive coordinator and favorite players came in. The idea behind it was that the four-time league MVP would use his experience and elite play to elevate the rest of the squad.

After missing last season, there was optimism that Rodgers was going to lead a dominant squad. But a few losses in and Robert Saleh was escorted out of the building. But even after that, the team did not improve as they lost five games winning one.

With the losing mentality going back a few years, owner Woody Johnson probably decided to clean house. He took a decision that reached the ears of ESPN’s Adam Schefter who then revealed it on his X account earlier today.

More change in New York: Jets now have fired GM Joe Douglas, sources tell ESPN. Last month, head coach Robert Saleh. Now, Douglas. It’s a complete reboot for the Jets.

If anything, they are completely rebooting the leadership they had in place for some time. Woody Johnson might have had enough and preferred to head into next year with a clean slate. However, that slate still has Rodgers and his friends on the team, which fans could not wrap their heads around.

Fans cannot understand Jets decisions after Joe Douglas firing

As those very football fans have noticed that four of Joe Douglas‘ draft picks have turned out to be studs. Garrett WilsonQuinnen WilliamsBreece Hall and Sauce Gardner. On top of that, his pick this season was another big win. Fans also noticed that Douglas did everything he could to bring in the players Aaron Rodgers wanted.

Despite all of that this news did not sit well with fans. Most people on social media asked questions rather than just react to this news. Check out some of those reactions below.

How Woody Johnson will take the New York Jets forward is unknown. But heading into next season, the new GM will have a tough task of signing players, as a lot of players currently will be without contracts. Keeping them will be one task, but attracting free agents will be a lot harder considering the turmoil the organization will be in.
