Ohio State President Has Warning for Michigan Fans Before ‘The Game’

Ryan Day started his Ohio State head coaching tenure with a blowout win over arch rival Michigan in 2019.

However, he and the Buckeyes have lost three straight to the Wolverines after not playing against each other in 2020. With “The Game” just a few days away, Ohio State president Ted Carter was tasked with naming three good things about the school’s biggest rival.

In his response, Carter issued a stern warning for Michigan fans.

“Can you say three nice things about That School Up North?” Carter was asked.

“Uh,” he said with a momentary pause before adding, “they’re colder than us.”

Reporter Jerod Smalley rightly asked, “That’s a good thing?”

“Yeah, if you like cold weather,” he said with a grin before adding a genuinely good thing about Michigan. “They have great academics. They do. They have great academics.”

He then took his shot.

“And they’ll get to enjoy what it feels like to lose for the first time in four years,” he said.

He did add some genuine remarks at the end of the video.

“The rivalry lives on the field, but there’s a lot that we should aspire to do collaboratively,” he said after revealing he once spoke at a commencement ceremony for the Wolverines.

Ohio State enters Saturday afternoon’s showdown as the heavy 21-point favorite, but former Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer issued a warning for his old team: the Wolverines have talent.

“The minute someone says the Wolverines have bad players, you’re out of your mind,” Meyer said on “The Herd.” “They got excellent players, like you just said. They’ve had some quarterback issues, but quarterback can get fixed in a game. So I guarantee you there’s too much respect in that locker room at Ohio State. I know the coaching staff … You just work your tail off and find a way to win this game. So regardless of what the media says, the point spread, it doesn’t matter.”
