Board agree with Steve Cooper as coach set clear plan ahead of important months

The board agrees with Steve Cooper as coach to establish a clear plan ahead of critical months.

Nottingham Forest will have a “really important” June after their final Premier League encounter of the season.

Head coach Steve Cooper is determined to end the season on a positive note against Crystal Palace on Sunday, having clinched safety with a game to spare after defeating Arsenal last weekend. But, after the last whistle blows, his whole attention will shift to how the club can build on the platform it has established.

He claims that discussions concerning what comes next for players whose futures are uncertain have yet to take place. While the summer transfer window will be crucial, Cooper emphasizes the need of improving both on and off the field.

“It’s going to be a tough game on Sunday.””We have to concentrate on that,” he remarked.

“In terms of the future, there are plans in place for both on and off the field, because everything is very important.” They will be activated, but we must first complete the game before we can begin to implement all of this.

“I really want the fans and players to unwind after Sunday and look forward to next season.” But behind the scenes, and this begins with me, we must be working extremely hard.

“We now know what it takes to compete at this level thanks to this season.” We need to make the most of the opportunity we’ve given ourselves by remaining in the league. June is a critical month in this regard.

“As the days have passed, it’s turned into motivation for how we need to improve.”We need to have a very productive off-season after Sunday.

“The players will rest, and a lot of the staff around the players will rest, as they should.” But we need to be working in the off-season in order to continue to improve the club to where we want it to be, which is capable of operating at a top level in the Premier League.

“To do that, you must perfect every aspect of the club.” That is what we have gained by remaining in the league. It’s a significant step, but it’s also given us the opportunity to continue to grow. But that is all it is: an opportunity, not a promise.

“We need to make June a really busy month in terms of how we improve the club so that when the players return, they can see it’s a club that wants to grow with them.” If we accomplish that, we should be able to improve on the pitch as well – we definitely need to improve. That is my obligation, and when the players return, we will take it on.

“We need to grow the playing style, we need to grow some of the things that haven’t gone so well this year – the away form is obvious – and we need to grow a lot of other things as well.” Hopefully, that’s a natural trend that we’ll be able to capitalize on.”
