BREAKING NEWS: National media slam ‘weak’ £15m Nottingham Forest player after his latest display for his country

One of Nottingham Forest’s players has been slammed by the national media following his display on Wednesday night for his country.

The season may well be complete for Nuno Espirito Santo who guided his side to Premier League survival despite the bumps along the way.

Nottingham Forest may well have sealed their Premier League status for next season, but they had to wait until the final day to see it confirmed.

And after a gruelling campaign for Forest, some of their players are still yet to enjoy their summer break with international duty calling.

A number of different international tournaments are taking place over the coming weeks, but it is one of the Forest players who was featuring in a friendly game on Wednesday night which has received criticism from his national media.

Nottingham Forest star slammed after successful season at City Ground

Although the fans at the City Ground had to hold their breath until the final game of the campaign to see their side stay up, there were a number of impressive individual displays.

Players like Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo and Callum Hudson-Odoi all impressed massively in what was a difficult campaign on the whole.

In some cases, the performances this season may well have earned the likes of Gibbs-White a move away this summer with Tottenham Hotspur credited with an interest.

Another player who showed a lot of promise under Nuno was Anthony Elanga who has now jetted off with Sweden to play in two friendly matches.

However, the Swedish media were not exactly wowed by his showing in their 2-1 defeat to Denmark on Wednesday night.

“The left winger rarely got into the one-on-one situations that he likes,” wrote the Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen.

“Judged most of the time correctly but didn’t really make an impact in this game. Weak action in Denmark’s 2-1 goal.”

Elanga does now only have one final game for Sweden before his summer break with the Swedes failing to qualify for the Euros.

Anthony Elanga’s game vs Denmark in numbers

Having signed in the summer from Manchester United in a deal believed to be worth around £15m, Elanga has shown a lot of promising signs at Forest.

The Swede returned five goals and nine assists in the Premier League this season – which was only one assist behind the club leader, Gibbs-White.

However, Wednesday night certainly was not his finest performance for his national side.

90 minutes played
38 touches
1 key pass
93% pass accuracy
0/2 successful dribbles
0/3 ground duels won
0/2 aerial duels won
8X lost possessions

After a trying campaign at the City Ground, it is now almost time for Elanga to put his feet up ahead of what will likely be another difficult season in the Premier League.
