BREAKING NEWS: Nottingham Forest land devastating new points deduction – sources

Nottingham Forest must balance their books before June 30th or face another PSR breach and points deduction next season, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke explained that Forest will face interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi, Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo this summer.

Forest faced a four-point deduction in 2023-24 after breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules in their 2022-23 accounts.

They exceeded their allowable losses by £34.5million after investing heavily in their squad following their promotion to the Premier League.

Forest are now expected to be on the brink of their allowable losses again next season and could be forced into summer sales to avoid a further breach.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, O’Rourke, said: “There’s going to be a lot of speculation around Hudson-Odoi, Gibbs-White and Murillo heading up to this June 30th deadline.

Nottingham Forest may make triple sale to avoid PSR breach

It does look like Forest are going to have to cash in on some players if they are to avoid further PSR breaches, and that’s something that the club are desperate to avoid.

Hudson-Odoi and Gibbs-White are certainly on Tottenham’s radar and I’m sure a number of other clubs will also be keeping tabs as he’s been outstanding this season and was key to them staying up.

Murillo was a real find for this season, he’s been a really impressive centre-back who I think is only going to get better and better with age as well.

I think for Forest right now it’s a case of seeing who they can keep hold of and what money they can get for any players that they’re going to have to sell because they won’t be doing too much business until their books are balanced and everything is in place for them.

I think the club themselves are going to have to be savvy – they’re going to have to balance the books.

Otherwise, another points production will be heading their way next season as well.
