Latest Nottingham Forest news as Reds target summer deals to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad
Nottingham Forest are said to be keen on winger Reiss Nelson, but the Arsenal man would not come cheap.
It has the potential to be a busy summer for the Reds as they look to tweak Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad. Incomings and outgoings are on the cards now the transfer window is officially open.
Strengthening Nuno’s options at the top end of the pitch, including out wide, is expected to be on the agenda. And The Athletic report Nelson is on Forest’s radar as they look to do just that.
The 24-year-old is said to have told the Gunners he “wants to assess his options” regarding a potential move this summer. It seems he is not short of suitors.
In addition to the Reds, Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Ham United are credited with an interest in the former England Under-21 international. Arsenal are said to have placed a price tag of £20 million including add-ons on his head.
Nelson, who is under contract until 2027 with an option to extend by 12 months, came up through the ranks with the Gunners. He had loan spells at Hoffenheim and Feyenoord earlier on in his career.
Last season, Nelson managed just one Premier League start among his 23 appearances in all competitions for Mikel Arteta’s team. Attempts to prise him away from the Emirates Stadium in January were rebuffed.
Forest signed wingers Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga last summer, but it is an area where they lack strength in depth. The likes of Emmanuel Dennis, Josh Bowler and Alex Mighten remain on the books but could move on as the club look to trim numbers. In addition,Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Hudson-Odoi after the ex-Chelsea man had a fine first season at the City Ground.
