Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds await outcome of appeal hearing
Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has reiterated his frustration at Nottingham Forest’s wait for a verdict on their points deduction appeal.
The Reds had expected to discover the outcome of their hearing in the days before they made the trip to face Sheffield United. But they are still waiting to discover whether they have been successful in reducing their four-point deduction for breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
There is no set timescale within the Premier League rules for delivering an appeal verdict. An announcement is now not expected before Tuesday, at the earliest.
If Forest are given some points back, there is the possibility Burnley could be relegated next week without a ball being kicked. Saturday’s 3-1 win at Bramall Lane moved the Reds five points clear of the 19th-placed Clarets with two games to play – and Nuno’s side also have a significantly better goal difference.
“I think they (the Premier League) had time to avoid what might happen,” the Portuguese said. “We are waiting to see the final decisions and see if we have 33, 32, 31 or 30 points.
“This is what we have to know, and for our opponents also. It (the verdict) should have been done before.
“People have spoken about the integrity of the league and it’s not good for anyone. They have to get it right.”
