Clinton Morrison has claimed that Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner was at fault for the goal that Brentford scored yesterday. The Reds drew 1-1 with the Bees, with Nicolas Dominguez cancelling out Christian Norgaard’s goal.
Turner has been ever-present this season for Forest. He checked in from Arsenal during the summer when the Reds decided not to sign Dean Henderson from Manchester United.
The player does have some competition to contend with now. He won’t be happy with his part in yesterday’s goal not least because Odysseas Vlachodimos is waiting in the wings.
Morrison thinks Forest star Turner was at fault for goal
The pundit was covering the game for BBC Sport. He had his say on the goal that Norgaard scored and he didn’t think the goalkeeper covered himself in glory.
He told BBC Sport: “I don’t know how they’re not defending that! I know they’ve lost a man but he shouldn’t be getting a free header.
“Norgaard is one of their best headers of the ball.
“I think Turner should save it. He gets his hand to it, he should be saving that one.”
Turner will know he’s got to improve
With a proven goalkeeper like Vlachodimos waiting patiently for a chance, Turner will know he has to improve. In fairness, he did come out and down the mistake himself after the game.
The 29-year-old will now face an anxious wait to see if he keeps his place for next week. The Greece number one will hope for a chance soon and he will hope that Turner’s performance yesterday has convinced Steve Cooper to make a change.
The man signed from Arsenal looks like a decent character. However, he will now be anxious over whether or not he will keep his place in the team for the next game.
