The latest Nottingham Forest news is that Steve Cooper is set to prioritize left-back in the summer transfer window.
Nottingham Forest are allegedly interested in acquiring left-back Aaron Martin this summer, as competition for Carlos Augusto intensifies.
Forest are thought to be competing for Augusto this summer with Italian giants and Champions League finalists Inter Milan.Steve Cooper is trying to bolster his left-back options in the aftermath of Renan Lodi’s return to parent club Atletico Madrid.
The Reds appear to be considering alternative options in the position. The Daily Mail reports that Forest are ‘looking at’ Martin, who will be available on a free move when his contract with Bundesliga club Mainz expires in the summer.
In the previous season, the 26-year-old played 28 times in the German top flight, scoring five goals and giving three assists. This summer, he has been connected with moves to a number of clubs, including Eintracht Frankfurt and the Italian duo Torino and Bologna.
He joined Mains on loan from Espanyol in his native Spain in 2018. A year later, the relocation was deemed permanent.
Between January and March, he was on loan from Mainz to Celta de Vigo.
Forest’s primary position in the current transfer window will be left-back. The Reds are thought to want to make Lodi’s move permanent, but Atletico Madrid is refusing to budge on the price.
With the player’s departure to Spain, Forest are left with only Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo as acknowledged left-backs. Despite joining to the City Ground last summer, Richards is yet to make his debut for the club due to injury.
