DONE DEAL: Nottingham Forest agree Orel Mangala deal as record fee revealed

Orel Mangala will complete a £25million move from Nottingham Forest to Lyon, sources have told Football Insider.

Mangala, 26, initially joined the French club on a loan-to-buy deal in the January transfer window despite featuring heavily for Forest in the first half of last season.

The transfer is now set to be made permanent with the agreement and payment structure already in place between the two clubs for the midfielder.

The deal will be included in the Nottingham club’s accounts for the financial year ending 30 June as they aim to avoid committing any further spending breaches.

But Forest had already factored the deal into their projections for the year as the expectation was the transfer would proceed after terms were agreed when the Belgium international made the initial loan switch.

Orel Mangala set for Nottingham Forest exit as deal agreed

Mangala was a regular fixture in the Forest starting lineup following his £12.7million move from Stuttgart in 2022.

But the Premier League side decided to sanction a loan switch to Lyon in January despite the midfielder starting in 21 of his 22 appearances at the City Ground in the first half of the campaign.

The Ligue 1 club are now on the verge of completing a permanent deal for the Belgian as Forest look to ease their profit and sustainability (PSR) concerns.

Forest are believed to be at risk of breaching the financial rules again this year, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side needing to make around £30million in profit from player sales over the coming weeks.
