Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga has returned from international duty with Sweden and it appears he’s ready to fight for Premier League survival.
The winger hasn’t played an awful lot for Sweden during their games against Portugal and Albania. He started in the 5-2 defeat last week and managed just 14 minutes from the bench last night as Sweden won 1-0.
Elanga has been a revelation for Forest this season. He signed for the club from Manchester United for just £15 million and has five goals and seven assists to his name.
The Reds need all of their attacking players available between now and the end of the season. As a result, it will be good news that Elanga has returned from international duty unscathed and ready to go.
The 21-year-old did miss some good chances in the games against Liverpool and Luton recently. However, he’s still extremely important to the Reds and now he’s had a message for the club’s supporters.
Anthony Elanga sends message to Nottingham Forest fans
It’s rather handy that Sweden decided to play their second game of international duty on a Monday. Now, Elanga will head back to Forest and get ready for the weekend.
Neco Williams is with Wales and they face Poland tonight in a one-off game to reach Euro 2024. Likewise, Odysseas Vlachodimos will hope to reach the tournament with Greece – although he won’t be involved with Forest on Saturday.
After the Sweden victory over Albania last night, Elanga has taken to Instagram to send a message to Forest fans. He said: “Good time away with @swemnt! Now all gas no breaks with @officialnffc! All together more than ever!”
Elanga is going to be crucial during run-in
Forest desperately need Elanga to find his shooting boots again. The chances he missed against Liverpool and Luton showcased some signs of fatigue perhaps but he should be raring to go now.
As a talented youngster, Forest need his energy levels to come to the fore at this stage of the campaign. Certainly, from his comments, it would appear that he is ready to go.
Nuno Espirito Santo has called on Elanga more often than not in his Forest team. On his day he’s a real menace with his blistering pace and the Reds need him firing for the final nine games.
Whatever happens from here, Elanga has been a quality signing for Forest. To get 12 goal contributions is probably more than anyone expected and for that he does deserve credit.
