According to reports, Nottingham Forest are “chasing” former Chelsea and Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
The 36-year-old is a free agent after departing the Toffees at the end of last season when his contract expired. Former clubs include Stoke City and AC Milan.
Begovic joined Everton from Bournemouth in 2021, making only 10 appearances in two years.
According to TalkSPORT, the Bosnian is receiving interest from Forest, who are also in talks to sign Dean Henderson on a permanent contract this summer.Premier League newcomers Luton Town are said to be interested, as are two unnamed Championship clubs.
When asked about his present situation, he told talkSPORT, “I’m still very much a free agent!” I guess it’s that time of year; lots of rumors, stories, and gossip, but it’s all in good humor.
“Over the next two weeks, things will become clearer.” There have clearly been some conversations with certain people and teams, and I believe they will heat up in the coming weeks as June progresses into July and pre-season – we’ll see what happens.”
When asked about his chances of becoming a first-team keeper, Begovic responded, “I certainly feel like I can do it.” I’ve been pretty fortunate with injuries throughout my career, and I work very hard to look after myself and stay in good physical and mental shape, so I believe I can still play as a number one for a few more years.
“It’s about finding the right situation.” It’s not about always trying to be number one; it’s about finding the right people to work with, the appropriate situation, and maybe some success together.”
