GOOD BYE: Nottingham Forest make final decision to part ways with professional forward this season

Chris Wood could look to leave Nottingham Forest if they are relegated from the Premier League this season.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed there will be takers for Wood if Forest fail to secure their top-flight status over the next couple of weeks

The New Zealand international has been in fine form for the Reds during this campaign, with his goals ensuring they currently sit three points outside the relegation zone.

O’Rourke admitted the 32-year-old forward, whose contract is set to expire in June 2025, is one of a number of Forest players to have enhanced their reputations following his performances this season.

Chris Wood could leave Nottingham Forest

While Forest have faced several issues during this campaign – most of which have come off the field – it’s been an excellent year on a personal note for Wood.

The forward has scored 12 times in 29 appearances in the Premier League, meaning he’s registered more than a quarter of the Reds’ 45 league goals.

Although Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are only still in the relegation battle because of their four-point deduction for breaching the league’s spending rules, they would probably be in deep trouble without Wood’s goals.

The New Zealander’s form and vast experience in the top flight would make him an interesting option for any side looking to add some more firepower to their squad next season.

But the Reds will be in a strong position to keep hold of him if they can secure another year in the Premier League heading into the final couple of games of the campaign.
