The latest Nottingham Forest news comes as Harry Toffolo looks ahead following Leeds United’s defeat.
Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo is determined that his team has control over their destiny.
On Tuesday night, Leeds United handed the Reds their fifth defeat in eight games, leaving Steve Cooper’s side just above the drop zone on goal difference. It’s a far cry from Forest’s unbeaten run at the start of the year, but the club will be encouraged by the clarity surrounding the manager’s future.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis sought to put an end to the speculation surrounding Cooper, and the team will want to prove that it was the right decision, beginning with a match against Aston Villa on Saturday. Toffolo felt the club started well against Leeds but has promised that the team will work hard to end their eight-game winless streak.
“We got off to a great start, but we lost a few duels in the game, and when you do that at this level, you get undone,” Toffolo told the club’s website.
“The first 20 minutes of the game were exactly how we wanted it to go before they scored, but doing it for 20 minutes is pointless; we need to compete for the entire 45.” It’s all about staying positive; there are nine games left, and this is far from over.”
“We need to get back to the gym and work even harder now,” he added. “We’ll take a look at it, keep moving forward, and there are nine games left to control our destiny.”
