Gibbs-White summed up his feelings after the game, with his England teammates now just 90 minutes away from a trophy. The Forest man’s remarkable form should continue into pre-season and the upcoming Premier League season.

“It’s hard to put into words,” Gibbs-White added. “We’ve spent the last two years working just to get to this point.” It’s not yet an accomplishment; we still have a lot of work to do. I believe we have a cohesive team that is capable of going all the way.”

When the game was tied at 0-0, Gibbs-White missed a penalty by throwing the ball wide, but he remained calm to score, his confidence shining through. He has now said that he wants to add more goals to his repertoire after scoring five and assisting eight previous season.

“I’m feeling confident,” he continued. “Of course, there is always room for improvement.” My primary duty for the team is to assist the team as much as possible on and off the field.

“Assists have been an important part of my game this season, and I’ve carried that into the tournament.” It’s only a matter of attempting to achieve more goals today. Saturday’s whole attention is on the team.

“I’ve never missed a penalty wide before.” I was quite irritated with myself, but I knew another opportunity would present itself, so I had to remain calm and composed, and when my opportunity presented itself, I took it.

“I got us into the lead but the main thing is we got the win and we’re into the final.”
