Negotiations on going as Nottingham Forest beat Brentford in race to sign £12m Pablo Maia

Brentford has joined Nottingham Forest in the race to recruit Pablo Maia. The Reds have been watching the Brazilian for some time and have finally learned how much he will cost.

According to Brazilian media, Forest is keeping an eye on the midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window. They attempted to sign him in January, but Newcastle, Fulham, and West Ham are all keeping an eye on the issue.

Maia appears to be leaving Sao Paulo this summer. According to UOL, the board has admitted to receiving interest from Europe and will now contemplate a sale in the £12 million range.

In South America, the 21-year-old is well regarded. It now appears to be his logical step to move to Europe, potentially to the Premier League.

This summer, Forest will most likely pursue another midfielder. Remo Freuler could return to Italy, while Cheikhou Kouyate is becoming older.

The Brazil contingent at the club could offer Forest an advantage. Danilo, Felipe, and Gustavo Scarpa have all agreed to terms with the City Ground for the coming season.

Maia is a defensive-minded combative midfielder. Despite his youth, he has appeared in 84 games for Sao Paulo and scored five goals.

Forest and Brentford are competing for Maia.

This would be a fascinating signing. Forest will not ignore the Brazilian market when it comes to signing new players – and why would they?

Danilo has been an excellent acquisition. He joined from Palmeiras in January and has matured as a player in the final six weeks of the season.

It’s no wonder that Maia has other fans. Brentford are an appealing possibility as an experienced Premier League team, and they don’t make many mistakes in terms of recruitment.

Forest will now perceive themselves as an appealing option for prospective recruitment. With that in mind, they’ll be hoping to stamp their authority on the Premier League next season, and Maia might help them do so.
