Nottingham Forest are considering a potential transfer to Southampton.
The Daily Record (24/05, 09.31) reports that the Reds are interested in the Scotland international ahead of the transfer market beginning in a few weeks.
After a 1-0 win over Arsenal over the weekend, Steve Cooper’s side earned their spot in the Premier League for another season.
As a result, preparations for the summer transfer window have begun as the team tries to build on a successful first season back in the top flight.
Adams has been an important figure for Southampton this season, as the Saints were relegated to the Championship.
After an 11-year tenure in the Premier League, the wolves are already circling a number of its players.
Everton and Leeds United have also been connected with a transfer for Adams, with Nottingham Forest the most recent club to express an interest.
The 26-year-old joined the club in 2019 after leaving Birmingham City for a rumored cost of up to £15 million.
However, the striker’s current deal expires in a year and he is looking to return to the Premier League.
Cooper is said to be a fan of Adams and would like to bring him to the City Ground this summer.
This season, Adams provided only five goals and three assists for Southampton in the league, and his dismal goal-scoring record was a role in the club’s relegation.
Given that he is entering the final year of his current deal, the Saints should attempt to cash in on the striker if an offer comes in.
As a free agent, Adams is not worth losing, thus Southampton should welcome bids and competition for his services.
Adams is a Scotland international, and the club has done well to raise his reputation, but now may be the time to cash in.
