Nottingham Forest are vying with Torino to recruit Alessandro Buongiorno this summer. The Reds are not alone in this contest, with Bournemouth also interested in the central defender.
According to Calciomercato, the Reds are looking to strengthen their defense this summer. They’ve now identified the 23-year-old as someone who can come in and perform a task.
In Turin, the defender has worked his way through the ranks. He has made 76 appearances for the club in total, 36 of which have come during the 2022/23 season.
Despite his youth, Buongiorno has captained the team eight times this season. It’s a position he’s enjoyed, and he definitely has a bright future ahead of him.
Torino is now aware that Premier League interest in their player has emerged. As a result, they’re attempting to offer Buongiorno a new contract, with his present contract slated to expire in 2025.
During 2022/23, the Italian had one goal and two assists. He has mostly played as a centre-back, but he can also play as a left-back.
Forest is in need of a central defender. Felipe and Moussa Niakhate have been the club’s recent partnership, with Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna, and Willy Boly all present.
Forest should try to sign Buongiorno, who could be great.
The defender may prove to be a perfect target for the Reds. His eight yellow cards this season may suggest that he isn’t scared to make a tackle.
On the discipline chart, that number of cards puts him ahead of Joe Worrall. This season, the club captain has received more yellow cards than any other player in the Forest squad.
Buongiorno could be a valuable acquisition. He’d reduce the average age of the squad, which should be one of the Reds’ priorities this summer.
In this race, Forest should be able to hold off Bournemouth. The Reds will have significant clout with overseas players again this summer, and Buongiorno would undoubtedly welcome a move to the City Ground.
