Nottingham Forest continue battle as transfer stance set out for £40m-rated midfielder

If Nottingham Forest pursue their interest in Tyler Adams, they may have a battle to keep him.

The Reds have been linked with a summer move for the Leeds United midfielder as they try to boost their squad ahead of the new Premier League season. There was already plenty of interest in his signature, with West Ham United, Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Everton all rumored to be interested.

A price tag of £40 million has previously been proposed. However, there appears to be no certainty that the Whites will let him go.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, new owners 49ers Enterprises consider Adams as a “key part of their plans” as Leeds aim to return to the top flight for the first time. However, there is an acknowledgment that they may need to persuade the player to stay put amid the offers that are expected to come his way.

The USA international joined Elland Road from RB Leipzig in a rumoured £20 million contract last summer. He made 26 appearances for Leeds last season, missing the final few weeks due to a hamstring injury.

He is supposed to have returned for pre-season but has not participated in full workouts as he recovers. However, the 24-year-old is anticipated to be healthy for the start of the Championship season next month.

Forest will evaluate their alternatives in the center of the field this summer as they look to advance in the Premier League. Jack Colback was already released at the end of his contract, and Cafu, who was not on the 25-man roster, was also let go.

As the Reds aim to cut costs, Jonjo Shelvey is likely to leave, while Remo Freuler’s future is also uncertain. A decision must also be made on whether Lewis O’Brien will play next season after his loan spell with DC United expires.
